The Indian retail scenario has evolved drastically over past two decades. Till 1990s, only local brands were popular in all segments of products. Right from television brands to consumer durables, from clothes to footwear, from cosmetics to lifestyle products everything was made indigenously. But with the introduction of Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization (LPG) in 1991, India opened its economy for global brands and players who could kick-start a healthy competition in all sectors.
